As only of of the three remaining members of the Bhutto family, this book will fill you with anger at the injustices that she, along with her family, have withstood, and admiration at her bravery and ability to dig so deeply into the painful past of her father’s assassination.
Although I have my fair share of disagreements with the author on a number of things, such as her insistence that her father was the real Bhutto heir and thus deserved to take the place of her father while it was BB who went through the ordeal of jails, house arrests, torture and trauma of being in the country at the time the two bolod were living a free life in Europe and then in Afghanistan, often causing problems for the Party at home; her way of patriarchal thinking in terms of a man taking being the real bhutgo while neither Zulfikar Ali Bhutto nor her father Murtaza ever discriminated between sons and daughters and the bearer of family name, often calling Benazir, Mrs.

Overall a great book for learning about the history of Pakistani politics. Fatima Bhutto’s memoir of her father is a very well written, riveting and commendable effort. Her descriptions of inter-personal interactions with her father leave no doubts as to how close their relationship was. The evidence she presents implicating the current Pakistani president Asif Zardari and his deceased wife, the previous prime minister Benazir Bhutto, in the murder of the author’s father, Mir Murtaza Bhutto, is convincingly delivered and speaks for itself.
